3 Ways to Create and Use Folders for Apps on an iPhone with iOS 4

If you download a lot of apps for your iPhone, your Home Screens have probably gotten pretty jumbled. Thankfully, iPhone supports sorting apps into folders. Follow this guide to find out how.
STEPS
METHOD 1 OF 3: CREATING FOLDERS

DECIDE HOW YOU WANT TO ORGANIZE YOUR APPS. Folders are useful when your Home Screens start getting cluttered with a wide variety of different apps. Use folders to keep specific groups of apps together for easy access. For example, you might put all of your social networking apps in one folder, and your video streaming apps in another, and all of your work apps in a different folder.

CREATE A FOLDER. Find two apps that you want to include in a folder together. Press and hold the icon for one of the apps until the icons begin to wiggle. Drag the first app onto the second app, and a folder will automatically be created.

ADD APPS. Use the app moving function to add more apps to the newly created folder. The icon of the folder will contain mini icons of some of the apps stored in the folder. You can move the folders around the screen just like you would apps.
There is a 12 app limit for folders, and folders cannot be placed in other folders. You can install custom folder tweaks that circumvent these restrictions if your iDevice is jailbroken.

METHOD 2 OF 3: MANIPULATING FOLDERS

RENAME THE FOLDER. When a folder is created, iOS will automatically name it based on the apps that are in the folder. You can rename the folder by opening it, and then tapping on the folder name. This will open the keyboard, and you can enter any name you wish.

REMOVE AN APP FROM THE FOLDER. Tap and hold any app until it begins to wiggle. Tap on the folder you want to change. You should now see a screen that shows you the apps inside the folder. The apps should be wiggling. Tap and drag the app you want removed outside of the folder and hold it there for a moment with your finger. The phone will now take you back to the Home Screen. Drop the app you removed from the folder anywhere you want.

DELETING FOLDERS. To remove a folder, drag each app out of the folder one by one. Once the apps are all gone, the folder will disappear. You can remove all the apps from all of the folders at once by opening Settings, then selecting General, and then Reset. From the Reset menu, select Reset Home Screen Layout. All folders will be removed, and apps will be sorted alphabetically after the system apps.
METHOD 3 OF 3: CREATING FOLDER WITH ITUNES

CONNECT YOUR IDEVICE TO YOUR COMPUTER. Select the device from iTunes sidebar. This should bring up your Device Summary.

CLICK THE APPS TAB. You will be shown a visual representation of your iDevice’s Home Screens. You can drag and drop apps like you would on your device.

SEARCH FOR APPS. Use the search bar in the upper-right corner of iTunes to search for specific apps on your phone. This is especially useful if you have a large number of apps. You can drag apps directly from the search results to folders.

STEPS
METHOD 1 OF 2: COPYING AND PASTING TEXT

TAP AND HOLD ON A WORD. A magnifying window will appear, with either a cursor inserted or the entire word selected. If the wrong word is selected, drag until the selection is in the correct position.

LIFT YOUR FINGER. A series of selection buttons will pop up, as well as blue left and right drag points.

FINE TUNE YOUR SELECTION. Drag the control points so that you select only that text you wish to cut or copy.
From the selection buttons, tap "Copy." The buttons disappear, and the text is copied. Note that the highlight and selection handles remain.

For websites or other text that can't be edited, the "Paste" option will not appear. Generally you will be given the option, then, to simply copy or define the selection.

PASTE THE TEXT. Position your cursor where you want to insert the text, then tap. A new set of selection buttons will appear with the options to Select, Select All, or Paste. Tap Paste. Your text will be pasted into the document where the cursor was flashing.

Some graphics applications will recognize an image on your clipboard, and give you a menu option to paste the image when you create a new document.
WARNINGS
Be careful if you are copying both images and words. If you accidentally paste an image into a text area, it will paste the code for the image, not the image itself. If it's a large image, that will be a lot of text! If you tap and hold, then choose "Select All," then use the handles to select only the pasted text, you will be able to get rid of it quickly.
